Construction is underway on the 192,880 square foot build-to-suit warehouse and office facility for Alton Industry Ltd. Group. The power tool fabricator will relocate its U.S. operations from Batavia, Illinois to a new 12-acre site in West Chicago within the Fox Valley industrial submarket.
“Alton is dedicated to making performance-driven products in the power tool industry, and we are grateful to have been selected as design-builder for their North American facility in West Chicago,” said George Olmos, CFO/Partner. “As a global leader in their industry, the new location will streamline both operational and product development processes for their retail partners”. As design-builder, MHC assisted Alton with site selection and due diligence, as well as optimizing the design and layout of the building on the site to accommodate both current needs and future expansion.
The new facility is strategically located within the DuPage Business Center, the region’s premier business park development. With convenient transportation access to I-88, I-355 and DuPage Airport, the 640-acre park offers innovative industrial and R&D firms a key location for regional operations and national headquarters.
Lee & Associates executive vice president Nicholas Eboli and vice president Andrew Block represented the owner in the transaction. The City of West Chicago and the DuPage Airport Authority were also instrumental in bringing this development to fruition. MHC and Alton teamed with Cornerstone Architects based in Itasca, Illinois for architectural design services and Haeger Engineering for civil engineering design. Completion is anticipated in November 2020.
